Correction: where the act images come from
Every source record for a sighted act said repository: Drouin via Ancestry. That was
Claude’s assumption, written on the first evening and copied into the vocabulary, the
template, the method, the About page and the spec before anyone checked it. Steve does not use
Ancestry. The images come from Généalogie Québec — the Drouin Institute’s own site, which
holds the Fonds Drouin registers and leads straight into PRDH.
The fix is the kind the method exists for. A wrong fact had travelled to eighteen places in
ten files; the correction is not made until it has travelled to all of them. Each of the five
source records now carries a dated note saying what it said before, who wrote it, and who
corrected it. The vocabulary no longer contains « Drouin via Ancestry » at all, so the value
cannot be typed again by habit. The frame tokens — d1p_… — were right all along; they are
Généalogie Québec’s.
What it says about the method: the repository: field exists so the journal can one day say
honestly what each subscription bought. It can only do that if the field is true. A
controlled vocabulary catches a misspelling; it does not catch a plausible wrong value. Only
the person who holds the subscription does.
