Its own colours
The site launched last night wearing ondits’ clothes — the cream paper, the wine-red badges, the same two typefaces — because the plan said to copy the grade badges verbatim so the two sites would read alike. Steve looked at it and asked for something visibly different: blues, not reds.
He is right, and the distinction worth keeping is narrower than “the CSS”. What a reader of one site should recognise on the other is the grammar of the grades: solid for Proven, outlined for Probable-Strong, tinted for Probable, a thin outline for Possible, dashed for Unproven, struck through for Disproven. That survives any palette. So the grammar stays and the hues are now this site’s own: ink-blue on cool paper, with teal where ondits used brass — the tint that says “compiled, not sighted”. The type changed too, Newsreader and Literata in place of Fraunces and Source Serif, with the same monospace for record IDs so the record texture is shared.
One quiet improvement rode along: ondits’ Disproven badge fades to 70% opacity, which puts it below the accessibility contrast line. Ours is struck through at full ink instead. Every badge here now passes AA against its paper; we measured before choosing.
The spec’s line — “reuse ondits’ badge CSS verbatim” — is amended to say “reuse the grammar”, with the date and the reason.
