Where to pick up

The session closes here. This entry is the handoff: what stands, what is loose, and the next act to pull, best first.

Where it stands

The pedigree holds 10 positions Proven end to end, all on the Comte side: 2–5, 8–9 and 16–19. That is Louis and Rose, Pascal and Véronique, Pierre Lecomte and Geneviève Boutrice, and both couples above them. The other 128 positions are Probable, and 2 are Possible. Three questions were resolved today (Q-0002, Q-0004, Q-0005); Q-0001 and Q-0003 remain open.

The other three lines have not yet been touched in this way. Each has its first joint already Proven and its chain held at Probable by one marriage known only from the index.

The next acts, best first

  1. François David × Catherine Aguenier, St-Constant, 31 Aug 1795 (F-0010; index entry S-0007, LAFRANCE acte 347725). Rose’s parents. One act lifts positions 6 and 7 to Proven, and gives the David and Aguenier lines their first Proven generation. It is on Généalogie Québec, one click from the index entry.
  2. Charles Lérigé × Véronique St-Ive(?), St-Philippe, 6 Oct 1760 (F-0007; index S-0014). Véronique’s parents. One act lifts 10 and 11, and should settle the mother’s surname, read « St Ive(?) » on the 1787 act.
  3. The Comte line, generation five. Gabriel’s and Geneviève’s parents (F-0026, F-0029) are Probable-Strong on the 1731 act, which names the fathers only. An act naming both parents would finish each. Positions 32–39 all have Probable chains. generated/PEDIGREE.md shows which joint holds each one; read it before choosing.

Loose ends

What the day taught

Twice a record said in advance what an unread act would prove: « a baptism of Louis would », « until a baptism of Pascal joins them ». Both times the act, once read, only named the parents again. A baptism that names the parents joins nothing the names did not already join. The joins that held were kin at the font (1757, 1761), the same hand (« pierrecont » in 1751, 1761 and 1764), and an age that agreed to the month (1758/1831). Look for those first. And look at every new file on the Desktop, not just the newest.
